As we begin preparations for tax season coming in April of 2019, we thought we would cover some basics for those who may be new to the world of taxes. Tax Brackets are an important factor when it comes to taxes, and can also be daunting for those who are new to paying taxes.
The Federal Tax Brackets
It all depends on your taxable income, but you will fall into one of seven brackets. These brackets are 10%, 12%, 22%, 24%, 32%, 35%, and 37%. Each bracket will determine the amount of taxes you will have to pay in correlation with your income of that year.
How will you file?
Depending on the way by which you file your taxes can also change the amount you pay within those tax brackets. The options to file are single, head of household, Married filing jointly (or qualifying widow), and Married filing separately.
Difference of Cost
Below is a chart of the brackets and their correlating amounts for this tax season,

Treats for Troops: Operation Gratitude
As Halloween ends, our bellies are filled with spooky-sweet treats. We have eaten our fill, yet still have some candy left! Thank goodness we know a great way to support others with these treats! Operation Gratitude is a wonderful service that promotes everyone to gather their unused, individually wrapped candy and donate them to the troops away from home!
Starting now, the Hoods Tax & Accounting office is a drop off site for Operation Gratitude! We accept more than just Halloween candy, though! Dental floss, pens, and mechanical pencils are acceptable donations for those who perhaps had more trick-or-treaters than expected!
All donations are due by November 5th! So if you have donations to give, we would love to have them dropped off in our office where we will have a donation station waiting for you! The station will have thank you notes for you and your family to fill out and place with your donation!
Our office location is 129 St James Ave # B, Goose Creek, SC 29445!
Let’s make a difference this weekend and participate in a cause filled with treats!
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
